Seat handover and charity auction of objects from Vicente Calderón stadium
The project in two minutes
SURUS challenge.
Atlético de Madrid football club wanted to give to their supporters the seat they had been using for attending matches.
The requirements of the project were:
- Deliver the seats during the month of July, avoiding August.
- The deliveries had to take place inside the stadium.
- Alongside the seat, ATM also wanted to handover a 489x439x358 commemorative box.
- Boxes should only show an ID tag for the seat and the name of the recipient.
- A certificate of authenticity should be connected with the seat’s unique code.
- Each supporter should receive their own seat.
- The delivery boxes should be protected to prevent any harm after placing the tags on them.
Finally, in order to preserve the soul of the football stadium, the club wanted to recover sentimental elements such as emblems, banners, tiles, door numbers and even the huge letters on the side of the stadium. The aim was to offer supporters a chance to purchase them for charity purposes.
A CIRCULAR SOLUTION
Surus deployed its full knowhow in logistics in order to come up with a solution that covered dismantling, lot classification and delivery of the seats in record time. At the same time, a plan was made for the dismantling, reconditioning, exhibition and auction of the sentimental items for the Vicente Calderón stadium.
PROCESS
1. Supporters seats
The seats that were claimed by supporters were dismantled, reconditioned and collected. Each supporter should get their own seat.
21 000 seats were delivered on site, within the premises of the stadium. An extra 3 000 was sent by mail and finally 1 000 seats were delivered to different shops.
All seats were customized with their own tag and certificate of authenticity. The packaging was specifically designed for this project.
2. Charity auction
270 sentimental elements from the Vicente Calderón stadium were dismantled and reconditioned.
In order to show the most representative elements to the supporters, a showroom was organized within the Wanda Metropolitano stadium. Two match days were chosen, one of which was the Madrid Derby, when more than 20 000 people attended the event.
The auction was exclusively online and proved to be a complete success in terms of participants and results.
A piece of the Calderón soul will remain forever in the homes of Atlético supporters.
Results
- 25 000 supporters received the seat where they suffered, enjoyed and lived so many memories. In the end, less than 0,03% of deliveries had an issue.
- 70 tn of plastic were transformed into an unforgettable memory.
- 20 000 people visited the showroom on the Madrid Derby match day.
- 100% of the 270 objects were sold through the auction and more than 5 700 bids from 10 different countries were received.
- 50 000€ were raised for charity purposes
